Maison Rose sits on the central square of the Place de la Liberation in the medieval hill village of Goult. Along with all services being available within walking distance, the house is centrally located for touring all the famous sites of the scenic Luberon Valley, home to Peter Mayle’s A YEAR IN PROVENCE.

Although Maison Rose is technically a village house, all its rooms are laid out on two floors, and in fact this century old house is deeper than it is wide.

From the entryway to the right is a fully equipped kitchen featuring an icemaker fridge, gas cooker with electric convection oven, Miele dishwasher and all mod-cons to meet the needs of even a gourmet cook.

To the left of the entry is a dining room with seating for six, a buffet, sideboard and an insert fireplace (wood supplied).

From the entry a hallway leads to the rear of the house. A passage to the right leads to the garage/work area with washer/dryer. A turn to the right leads to the WC/sink and three more steps up to a light and airy, comfortable living room with comfortable sofa, tub chairs, games table, etc. There is a television that serves the all zone DVD player. Games, books, touring materials and CDs/tapes are available for guest enjoyment.

From the living room steps lead to the back garden where there is a tiled and wrought iron dining set seating eight. It gets the noon sun until sun sets behind the stone wall and cypress trees lining the rear of the property. One garden wall is covered with wisteria (blooms in April) and there is a fig tree which bears fruit in August. Guests are welcome to enjoy the fruit and herbs available on the grounds.

From the central hallway a large staircase rises to the second floor to the bedrooms. On the right to the rear and overlooking the garden is a queen bedroom that has a sink. To the front right of the house is a darling twin bedroom on the Little Prince theme. It, too, has a sink. The front left bedroom has a double bed and heirloom set armoire, etc. This room houses the telephone/fax and the computer. Email service is through aol and is available to clients for a nominal fee. All the bedrooms have new mattresses, screens, shutters and ceiling fans. The new bathroom in the hallway has WC, sink, and tub with adjustable shower mounted above. Past guests have suggested we mention that the bedrooms are especially airy and spacious. The house interior is approximately 1500ft.2.

Maison Rose has plenty of parking in the square in front of the house. The English-speaking gardener comes once a week to check the plants and trim. She is also available to offer help and suggestions. Extra cleaning is available with advance notice.

All in all, Maison Rose is a very good value and a special haven for families intent on enjoying the delights of village life in Provence. This house is not suitable for persons with mobility problems and toddlers must be attended on the garden stairs.

In the environs of Goult one finds all services  including a tiny garage/gas station, a prize-winning epicerie, the bakery, two butchers, a post office and library. The often filmed Café de la Poste and its cast of characters is just 20 meters from Maison Rose.

All major touring sites in Provence are within a one hour drive and include Aix-en-Provence, Avignon, Arles, Les Baux, St. Remy, etc. Within ten minutes one can drive to Roussillon, Gordes, Bonnieux, LaCoste, Menerbes, Isle sur la Sorgue, and Oppede le Vieux. Village markets occur every day of the week.

Avignon TGV is 28 miles, Marseille Airport 43 miles, and Nice Airport 110 miles from Goult
