On a quiet tiny square near the center of the medieval hill village of Saignon, this adorable and spacious maison de village offers the sunniness of Provence combined with a convenient location—you can totter over to the café for a morning cup of coffee or buy your morning croissants just down the narrow lane.  The is one of two villages houses that the English speaking owner offers who is a most welcoming hostess. She proudly keeps her houses immaculate and completely supplied with top quality furnishings. The presentation is decorator-magazine pristine and beautiful.

On the façade of La Fleurie is a marvelous panel of rose bushes that bloom prodigiously and provide a romantic welcome to guests. Ancient doors open directly into the large kitchen/dining area with big lovely windows.

The completely furnished kitchen has a gas top cooker and electric oven, a fridge-freezer, and a dishwasher. Next to it is a walk-in with a washer and tumble dryer. A large hot water heater insures that your needs are met at all hours of the day.

The living room, to the left of the entry, has comfortable chairs and sofas where, in a pinch, extra guests can be accommodated (the owner charges extra for additional guests). There is a large open fireplace, satellite TV, a CD/radio/hi-fi system, and one of three telephones. The double French doors open to allow the scent of roses to float into La Fleurie.

Behind the kitchen is a circular stone stairway leading up to the second floor. This staircase renders the house unsuitable for toddlers or the elderly. There are two bedrooms. The first has two oversized (120cm) twin beds and off this large and sunny room is the bathroom (WC/sink/shower). The second bedroom has a queen bed (160cm) and a private dressing room. It has its own bathroom (WC/sink/shower). There is a table and chair with telephone jack by the window. Quality linens and blankets are supplied to both bedrooms.

Maison Fleurie sits in a characteristic Luberon medieval hill village and its chateau provides a dramatic view for the inhabitants of the town below. Apt has a teeming Saturday morning market that attracts tourist and local alike—all wanting to gather in the regional fruits and vegetables, load up on an infinitesimal selection of olives, choose amongst the wide variety of cheeses…or just sit in a café and watch the tourists select quilts and tablecloths to take home. Across the Luberon valley there are plenty of sites to visit, including Pont Julien—a 3rdC BC Roman bridge built to take the Via Domitia into northern Gaul. It is still in use today. Apt has a public swimming pool in the event you want to take a plunge during a hot summer day. Kayaking, pony trekking, hiking and biking are all possible nearby. The charming touristic villages of Roussillon, Gordes, Menerbes and Bonnieux are within fifteen minute’s drive, while over the lavender fields and down to the southern side of the Luberon, one has access to Lourmarin and onwards, Aix-en-Provence. Avignon TGV (fast trains from Paris downtown and from CDG airport) is a forty-five minute drive, while Marseille Airport is an hour’s drive. Nice Airport is three hours away. Closer by the Mediterranean coastal towns, Arles, Avignon, the Pont du Gard, Orange and the Cotes du Rhone wine villages are all easily accomplished day-trips.
