Charming,
secluded retreat in the Vaucluse, Provence. One-half hectare in the woods at the foot of Le
Petit Luberon mountains, with immediate access to hiking trails, nearby wine tasting
country, Roman ruins and gorgeous sightseeing. 6 km. from Menerbes, 3 km. from Lacoste, 5
km. from Bonnieux (picturesque, medieval "perched" villages), Le Paradis Caché
is off the same road on which Peter Mayle, author of "A Year in Provence,"
lived. (First house on right past the soccer field). Gordes, Goult and Roussillon
are nearby, with wonderful restaurants, galleries and chateaux to visit. |
Le Paradis Caché sleeps 4-6 comfortably.
Main house built on the ruins of a 17th Century windmill, surrounded by pine woods and
pasture land. Two parking possibilities: one beyond the pool and the second below by the
garage. This large area leads up stone stairs to a lovely large terrace with a 3X6 meter
splash pool (1.5 meters deep). Plentiful dining and sun lounge furniture with shade
coverage provides the very best and most convenient outdoor living in summer months. This
leads directly to the new modern American kitchen which is fully equipped
(washer/dishwasher) with gas stove /oven, full fridge with freezer top, toaster, coffee
maker, food processor. There is a sunny window with a view of the terrace. The pantry next
to this houses a WC and a washing machine.

two steps down lead to the dining room with fireplace: the bench table seat eight and
there is a hutch as well.. Leading off the dining room is a double bedroom with en suite
tub and hand held shower plus WC. |
| To the left of the kitchen, a semi-flight of steps leads to a
huge living room with fireplace, TV, stereo, leather sofa set and plenty of bookshelf
space. The living room opens via French doors: to the rear a small terrace with wonderful
views over vineyards to Menerbes. The front French doors open to steps down to the splash
pool and terrace. From the living room another half flight of steps goes up to a guest
double bedroom with small loft sleeping area only suitable for a teen, and another half |

wing is a new addition completed in 1999: it features traditional construction with beamed
ceilings and tiled flooring. |
| In addition, there is an
above-garage studio apt. with small kitchenette, a shower room with sink and WC, and a
twin bedded room. Central heating out of season payable as used.
There is plenty of guidebook
information: no need to carry your Fodor across the Atlantic. Our clients have loved this
unpretentious holiday home: it is very well equipped. It is a perfect fit for couples
traveling together.
Menerbes is a 50 minute drive from
Avignon, the best TGV stop en route from Paris. The closest international airport is at
Marseilles, less than an hour south on the Autoroute du Soleil (Cavaillon). |

For energetic touring days, the splendid university town of
Aix-en-Provence will reward veteran café sitters and seekers of cultural events. Beaches
on the Med coast are from 90-120 minutes drive. Famous sites in Avignon, St. Remy de
Provence, Arles and Les Baux are all within easy drives. Be sure to attend Sunday morning
market at Isle-sur-Sorgue, where local Cavaillon melons in season lie next to sewing
notions and antiques. A few wisely |

de Vaucluse, a watery green hamlet that is home to la source of the Sorgue River.

Terms of rental: two weeks let in high
season. Deposit: 30% on booking, final payment and $500 security deposit due 8 weeks prior
to arrival. Damages, telephone charges and excessive cleaning fees will be deducted from
the security deposit. Travel insurance is advised to protect any losses due to
cancellation, money is non-refundable within 8 weeks of travel unless a replacement is
found by the guest. Linens, and utilities including. Central heating additional in off
season. Please provide your own beach towels. Two weeks preferred.
