LR/DR/KIT  DW WM KBR/BA  KBR/SH  SHARED POOL  VIEWS

Chez Suzanne is a cozy two bedroom apartment sitting at the foot of a tiny medieval hill village known for the  ruins of the Marquis de Sade’s chateau. The apartment is part of a very clever conversion of village houses into a small condo-type community. Only the convenient private parking and the and the large shared swimming pool hint that this is not an original layout. From the pool and the terrace of Chez Suzanne the views are spectacular—a Michelin three star vista of tilted vineyards, orchards of olive trees, rows of lavender with stone farmhouses dotting the scenery. Yet this comfortable apartment is within walking distance of the little Café de France, where you can take it all in, once again, whilst sipping your pastis.

If you park below the house there is a keyed gate and a few steps up to your terrace on the right. On the left up a few more steps is a stone dining table and benches perfect for shady dining under shady trees.  From the terrace and further on, a few more steps lead up to a large shared swimming pool.

Chez Suzanne is entered by French doors into an open plan living/dining/kitchen area which has a fireplace and seating for four or five guests. The kitchen is nicely equipped and includes a full size fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. The arrangement of the two bedrooms makes this apartment especially nice for two couples because each of the king bedrooms (the beds can be separated into twins, as is the French style) flank the living area, giving more than the usual privacy. Each of these bedrooms has an en-suite bath (one has a shower, the other a tub with shower over it).

The American owners of Chez Suzanne have taken a particular interest in decorating and preparing this apartment for the relaxation and comfort of guests. An added attraction is that of being within walking distance of a postcard perfect little village and within a few minutes drive  of numerous local restaurants, cafes, shops and village markets. One never need be bored staying at Chez Suzanne. In 2001 Pierre Cardin converted the chateau into a venue for a fine summer cultural festival and this year one of the featured events is Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro with a key role being sung by Rene Fleming.

Chez Suzanne sits in the cradle of the lovely and reknown Luberon valley, within five miles of Menerbes, Bonnieux, Roussillon and Apt. The Sunday antiques market at L’Isle sur la Sorgue, the famous village of Gordes and the Abbey de Senaque and the Autoroute entrance at Cavaillon are all within a twenty minute drive. Further afield but easily visited are St. Remy-de-Provence, Arles, Orange, Nimes and the Pont du Gard. LaCoste is 33 miles east of the Avignon TGV station (a three hour train ride from Paris and CDG airport). Marseille airport is 45 minutes to the south, and Nice Airport about 150 miles from Chez Suzanne.
